Design For Mankind

alyson fox.

I just received an email from Ms. Alyson Fox (one of my very favorite designers!) notifying me of her newest series of drawings. She plans to create an entire line of objects and people covered with translucent cloth.

Look for this series in a set of small prints, which Alyson will be offering for most of the designs.

The results are astounding, and as always, her work is available via email right here.

We love you, Alyson— keep up the fantastic work!

giveaway: justjenn designs.

Oh, I love a good giveaway! I met Jenn from JustJenn Designs at Grace’s BizLadies Meet-Up in LA a few weeks ago, and she had the foresight to bring along a few of her uber-cute stationery samples. I was instantly swept into a paper goods frenzy and quickly apologized for each spot of drool that now lay on her immaculate portfolio.

I think she accepted my apology, because she contacted me last week and offered a FANTASTIC giveaway to one lucky Design for Mankind winner! Here’s what we’ve got:

(1) pack of Curse-Ive Flat Cards [these are my FAVORITE!]: $8 retail value.
(1) pack of Cupcake Crumbs Cards: $8 retail value. [Jill: You'd LOVE these!]
(1) pack of PERSONALIZED Modern Gift Set: $12 retail value.

So. In the spirit of Roadmaps (Jenn’s still working to get her business off the ground!), here’s how you can win this super-fun set:

Simply comment below with the name/contact info of at least ONE SHOP [either online or LA-based] where you think Jenn’s paper goods would fit in well. That’s it! We’ll handle the rest… ;)

Thanks so much to Jenn, and to you readers for giving her some totally valuable advice! I’ll announce the winner, which will be chosen at random, in 48 HOURS.

nina van de goor.

You probably recognize the name from the latest issue of Inspiration, the eZine (p.s. Issue #4 will be released tomorrow!!!), where this photo of Nina’s home nook left me itching for more of her fabulousness.

Never one to disappoint, Nina has opened her very own Etsy shop TODAY, filled to the brim with her beautifully crafted ceramics. At just $36-$38, these pieces are a TOTAL steal if you’re a lover of handmade bowls.

Congratulations on the exciting news, Nina; I can’t wait to see your new business bloom! :)

Editor’s Note: Design for Mankind reader Emily just tipped me off to the exhibit, which was hosted at the Austin Fine Arts Festival, so I went digging and found this photo of the actual installation. FANTASTIC work, Jackie Young and Cybil Gustafson!:
