the dailies: sandra juto.

I am just so excited for today’s Dailies. I’ve professed my love for Sandra Juto many times during my short-lived blogging fun, and I promise you— I will never grow tired of her. She is HANDS DOWN the most fascinating, inspiring and creative individual that I have EVER e-met.

Anyway, I’m gushing. So sorry. Here’s Sandra to give you a peek into her daily life, and I am positive you’re going to fall in love with her, too!:

07:19 am
I wake up early without any alarm this morning, I do this often on Mondays. Think it is because I am so excited about a new week. The first thing I do is to make tea and then put on my computer.

07:33 am
This is a seldom sight, my man is up before 8 and comes into my studio to say good morning. I’m taking a fast shower.

07:54 am
I make an omelette with olives and cheese for us. We eat it with avocado, prosciutto and tomato.

07:59 am
Me preparing the breakfast.

08:42 am
I’m updating my portfolio at Lula. Then I place myself in front of my desk and start working with some drawings.

09:34 am
Time for a little break to make tea.

09:37 am
But before the tea I have to take out the garbage. It’s a pretty strange weather, one minute sunny and warm and the next minute heavy rain.

10:11 am
Drawing, drawing, drawing, while listening to a book.

Noon
No rain, so we have our caesar salad out in the garden.

12:59 pm
Drawing and listening to the same book as before, it is good (“Mnniskohamn”, by John Ajvide Lindkvist (a Swedish author)).

13:48 pm
Our friends Sara and Sam from Finland have been in Gothenburg over the weekend and want to have a fika with us before they leave. We decide to meet at a caf close to home.

13:50 pm
Our neighbourhood was built between 1910-1930 and the house owners aren’t allowed to change the original colours. These garage doors are getting new paint.

14:18 pm
Coffee and chocolate with our friends.

15:47 pm
Back to working.

17:27 pm
Dinner time. Cucumber salad and salmon. We eat on the floor today since my man is home working and has occupied the dinner table. It’s like having a picnic.

17:45 pm
We lie on the floor and talk after the dinner.

18:43 pm
After a little more work I take a walk to meet the Lula’s. It’s a 45 minutes long walk starting in the allotment gardens outside my house, love walking through them looking at the small houses and now there is fruit in every tree.

18:44 pm
Typical house in the allotment gardens.

18:58 pm
My walk takes me through Slottsskogen, Gothenburg’s central park ;) A very calm place with lots of animals, like mooses, seals, flamingos, penguins etc. I’m lucky to live next to the park.

19:25 pm
I have a nectarine on my way, walking through the city.

19:27 pm
Don’t forget to lift your head while walking, you never know what’s up there.

19:49 pm
Unpacking some cards with my Lula friends that we are going to send out to clients etc.

20:56 pm
And of course we have fika while working.

21:44 pm
On my way home again I take the little longer walk through the city to see beautiful signs, beautiful light, beautiful buildings and a beautiful man who comes to meet me. It starts to rain heavily when we’re half way so we have to sit on a stair for a little while, which is very beautiful. Feels like in a movie. And it feels like Fall. I love Fall.

22:45 pm
Home again in the kitchen. We have some manchego, balsamico and eggs with caviar.

23:29 pm
Time for the lady to take her evening shower to relax before going to bed.

23:38 pm

23:54 pm
Time to put myself in bed.

  20. What a charming lady leading such a charming life! I think it’s so important to have lil’ luxury moments throughout our day…taking the time to make breakfast instead of pouring dry cereal in one’s mouth as you head out the door…enjoying caviar as a nighttime snack…enjoying the view of your ceiling…it’s such a nice way to remember why we are all here! Thank you Erin for posting such a lovely artist!

  48. Hello there! I’ve enjoyed this so much!!! She’s a fave of mine.
(sorry for not commenting much lately. I don’t have an easy access to internet, so I’m a bit time limited…, but at least I’m reading you often and I’m delighted for all the inspiring stuff)
    :)

  49. sandra is one of my favorite bloggers…i love seeing what her day it like! what a treat!

    jill — August 14, 2008 @ 3:33 pm
  50. Blogs like this are so weird. I recon that we’d all be a lot happier if we paid more attention to the mundane, beautiful aspects of our own lives – rather than those of some one else.

And…if she’s the “most fascinating, inspiring and creative individual” you’ve ever (e) met — you should (e) meet more people.

    Hagerstrom — August 14, 2008 @ 6:33 pm
  51. Hagerstrom—

I understand your point and think that yes, we should probably maintain a certain level of inspiration on our own, but sometimes it’s quite fascinating to become inspired by those around us in an effort to see what motivates them, how they create, etc.

And I’m quite disappointed in the last sentence of your comment, actually. Sandra is a VERY talented artist/designer, and although not everyone needs to agree with me, they do need to respect that Sandra is sharing a level of vulnerability in an attempt to inspire the rest of us and I’m grateful for her contribution. I’m quite sure she’s cream of the crop, regardless of how many people I have e-met.

    erin — August 14, 2008 @ 9:17 pm
  52. Love her <3

    Shiny Black Shoes — August 15, 2008 @ 4:40 am
  53. i agree with Hagerstrom actually. i also find these blogs so weird in a way that they try to showcase a ‘magazine like’ lifestyle where everything is so ‘perfect’. INSPIRATION is everywhere and us artists and designers document it in our own particular way but this is just over the top! it looks fake and highly staged. i do prefer the dailies you make of people who are a bit more ‘real’ and one can relate and be inspired by them. sorry but vulnerablity doesn’t really come into the issue here as it can be seen in the link to her blog. it’s a daily showcase of ‘look how my life is perfect!’
i love your blog by the way.
    Syd

    Syd — August 15, 2008 @ 5:05 am
  54. sigh…I love.

    Michelle — August 15, 2008 @ 6:22 am
  55. Syd— I think there is a vast difference between “staging” your life and “living” your life. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking steps to make your life a little bit happier and I see no problem with the way in which Sandra did this. In fact, I think this is one of the most inspiring dailies simply because Sandra is out, exploring, doing things that she finds to be creative and inspiring to HER.

We’re all inspired in different ways, and we can NOT forget that. My only hope is that we continue to seek inspiration in everything, INCLUDING ‘Dailies’ that you may not like.

And for the record— Sandra is the LAST person who would proclaim “look how my life is perfect.” I just hope you haven’t completely offended her.

Let’s keep the comments constructive, ok?
