topography clock.

Reader and artist Beth Cummings sent over a link to her topography clock (for sale on Etsy) in response to the cartographer’s dream blanket I posted last week.

They make a lovely match, don’t they? I bet they’d birth some super throw pillows.

antony gormley.

Antony Gormley makes some of THE most brilliant sculptures to date. Simply amazing.

a brief pause for chocolate.

No idea what this has to do with… anything, but really? A chocolate inhaler with zero calories?

Smart, or insanity? What do we think, readers?

mark a. reigelman.

Mark A. Reigelman II re-decorates bus stops, turning average public transportation fixtures into a highly sought-after art installation.

Now that’s what I’d call street art.

toyland.

I’m finding these photos of Chinese toy factory workers equal parts disturbing and fascinating.

hannah dollery.

To me, there is little more inspiring than seeing a designer on their down time. What sort of personal projects are they taking on, and how do they turn out?

If we’re talking Hannah Dollery, the answer is awesome. That’s how it will turn out. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Hannah crafted a lace-and-wood stool (one of my favorite combinations!) for fun. Should I ever visit New Zealand, my buns would SO not be worthy to sit on this creation.

Gorgeous.

weekend mash.

I feel like doing something a bit different here today, and since this is my blog, I’m gonna. How about I take you through a few of my favorite bookmarks that I’ve spotted over the week and simply haven’t had time to share with you?

Deal?

Good.

Well, I should probably start by saying I’m in a very feminine, floral mood today. It’s probably a response to the fact that glum isn’t so hip anymore, so we all might as well start thinking pretty.

You know what’s pretty AND floral? A picnic. A picnic, indeed, complete with spiraled hot dogs and perfectly-stacked sandwiches. At night. Perhaps even with fireworks. And, of course, cupcakes for dessert. Weather permitting, of course.

Would you like to meet me there? Here’s a map. And don’t forget admission!

Happy weekend.

tatiana berg.

I spotted Tatiana Berg’s work from No Smarties (which, alternatively, I spotted from Emily’s Twitter — let this be a lesson in social media, folks) and fell in love with this first piece of Tatiana’s.

I have to say, though, I totally didn’t see the monarch butterfly/tent thing going on at first. Instead, I thought it was a glorified prepubescent teen’s cheerleading megaphone.

And that, my friends, is why I’m thankful that tomorrow is Friday.

kara hamer.

Wow. I’ve discovered a new art crush in Kara Hamer.

Lovely paintings.

dawson weber.

Dawson Weber’s portfolio site kind of drives me batty, but there’s some beautiful work over there.
