Design For Mankind

a fun idea…

My tastes change so, so fast. Really fast. So rather than try to pinpoint a taste that I’ll love forever, I’m learning to be content with the fact that I’ll always be fickle.

The good news? With the smart idea above (from New Zealand design blog), my art tastes can change daily w/out breaking my budget. With a few felt triangles, a magnetic wall and some DIY magnet backing, I’ve got a custom look that I can play with and change out often.

I love it! Now about that interchangeable furniture… ;)

Colleen Baran is crafting a ring a day from everyday objects. A few of my favorites? Rubber bands, false eyelashes, chocolate and elastic.

weekend mash-up.

With the gorgeous weather upon us, I’ll be gallivanting about this weekend. It’s the official season of thrifting for me, so I may hit up my local shoppes for a vintage tech tray, or perhaps a cool console to transform.

And just in case my allergies act up around all that dust, I’ve got Mrs Remedy by my side.

Also on my to do list? Finally check out Kate’s new book (congrats, dear!), as well as the latest issue of Popshot Magazine. While dining on salted fudge brownies. Preferably in this henley, with these pajama bottoms. And then, of course, I’m going to e-stalk all 200 artists that will be exhibiting at The Cheaper Show.

And then? Then I’m going to leave Husband love notes all over the house.

Good weekend, yes? What are your plans?

elsewhere.

Happy Friday! Here is a snippet of my work around the web this week:

-Matchmaker, Patchmaker at ReadyMade Mag
-Maria Zaikina at Art Milk (pictured above)
-Conservatories… and then some at The House That DFM Built
-Home Office Organization 101 at DIY Life

an artful home.

Thanks to Jess who sourced my conservatory image, I found the glorious home of Charise Harper, which was featured on dear Grace’s blog over a year ago. And in the glorious home of Charise is where I found the following image, which is INCREDIBLY up my alley:

That artsy awesomeness? You guys, I’m doing this. I’m totally, 100% doing this, and not even Husband can stop me. I’ve got the image; now I need the blackboards. Oh, the excitement is brewing!

There’s some yummy stuff at Melinda Josie’s site and portfolio. This watercolor horse? Heavenly.

ana kras’ hive lamp.

Serbian artist Ana Kras can do no wrong in my book, and she certainly hasn’t made a mistake with this gorgeous lamp. I’m in such, mad love.
