josh blackwell’s plastic baskets.

Josh Blackwell wants to take his plastic basket project to print and has set up a Kickstarter page to… you know, kickstart that action.

Good luck, Josh!

a ring a day.

Must better than a ring around the rosy, today’s style pick is a stainless sheet of 7 pre-cut rings — one for each day of the week. Certain to make a statement, but don’t forget to file them down w/ the included sandpaper!

danna ray for the working proof.

I love Danna Ray’s work (as seen here and here), and I also love my friend Anna‘s charity project, The Working Proof. Naturally, put the two together and you’ve got a recipe for a melting Erin.

(p.s. 15% of the sales of Danna’s print go toward Médecins Sans Frontières.)

Two other goodies from Working Proof? Vasco Mourao and Laura Berger.

storm in a tea cup.

Help! There’s a storm in my tea cup, and you’re invited.

p.s. This is really, really expensive, so if anyone wants to make an affordable version, I’ll supply the pipe cleaners.

quirk: cutting boards.

A home is never truly a home without a healthy dose of quirk (which is why my former home contained giant whippet statues and a yellow bust of Abe Lincoln). My favorite kind of quirk? The detailed quirks — like a wooden flashlight or roller skate doorstop.

So, of course, when my dear friend (and go-to Scandinavian influence) Elisabeth opened her shop, I knew I could expect some major, stylish quirk. She didn’t disappoint, and I spotted the following goodies right away:

Can you guess what they are (of course you can, because I already told you in the title)? Cutting boards! Yes, yes and yes! I love the idea of giving an everyday item a design face lift, and I’m craving the mountain design in a big way.

Hat tip to Elisabeth!

trend time: object vases.

You guys! I’m seeing objects being used as vases everywhere lately — and we’re talking everywhere. Some of these are nothing new, but others? Man. Check out object vases around the web:

-Lampe from Apparatu
-Kitchen timer vase (pictured above)
-Camper vessel (pictured above)
-Paper bag vase (pictured above)
-Tank u vase (pictured above)
-Aquarium vase (pictured above)
-Ballpoint pen vase
-Puppy vase
-Side table vase (pictured above)
-Bloom My Buddy vase
-Pillow planter

Whew! Quite the round-up, eh? Enjoy.

art in the everyday: miso’s street art.

Miso’s street art in Melbourne is some of the most stunning graffiti I’ve seen. Can you even call this graffiti?

Proof that there is so, so much beauty in the everyday.

(p.s. I wrote a post on graffiti two years ago today!)
