The side braid, the color block, the two bags … the fantastic boots. I love this girl!

p.s. She’s like the Barbie lifesize version of this Hickoree’s bag!

Last week, I promised to share a bit more of myself with you, and I’ve been going back and forth with what that means for sometime now. And then I slapped my forehead b/c duh, I’m totally overthinking it. I’m going to just write whatever I want. B/c I can. So I will.

I love the idea of a sweet, simple vintagey trash can in my kitchen, but since we’re purchasing custom kitchen cabinetry anyway, we might as well integrate some built-in trash systems.
Yet you, my friend? You can have a sweet, simple vintagey trash can in your kitchen. Aren’t they sweet (and so cheap!)?

p.s. My husband is out of town with alllll of the renovation photos on his hard drive. Which means you get to see nothing. But don’t worry. You’ll see a bit of progress soon enough. I feel it.
p.p.s. This is a sweet little trash can, too.

I’d do a jig for this zig. So would Jim Stoten.

Sarah sent me a photo of this gorgeous window display she created for Orange Beautiful. Don’t you love the cascading shapes of color and texture? Whee!

[A $20 perpetual necklace from Beth is a perpetually sweet gift.]
Hi folks! It’s Friday, and I’ve been on a mad high since returning home from Mighty Summit earlier this week. Which means my head almost fell off a few times. It spins, you see, and then I have to adjust it so that it doesn’t fly off.
Anyway, I plan to spend a quiet weekend in (doing plenty of laundry, I might add) to combat the crazy in my head. It’s the good kind of crazy, but it’s still crazy. On my to do list? Reading Paper cover to cover, as well as Maira Kalman’s new read from Penguin. And then, while I’m on a paper roll, why not write send postcards to my parents on Ashkahn’s new cards and then update my Frankie diary? While coloring on downloadable coloring sheets, perhaps? Oh, the fun!
Of course, when I’m finished playing with paper I could play dress up with Kirsty’s new [awesome] crochet cuff and Beth’s perpetual necklace (thanks for the sweet presents, girls!). Or maybe I’ll learn to sew and enter Burda/Project Runway’s remake challenge? OK, let’s not get carried away. But if I did know how to sew, I’d re-create this INCREDIBLE wrap sweater from Civilized Wildlife. Eek!
Happy weekend, all!
p.s. Clowns are creepy, MODify/d is adorable, blowdryers are cool and bike prints are cute.
p.p.s. I love you.

I wrote about my Mighty Summit experience in my life section, so if you’ll have me, I’d love to share the story. Living in an isolated section of the Midwest, it was such a treasure to ignite some inspirational flames with fellow women in the media and foster lifelong relationships with some new faves.
Indeed, this whole Internet thing is on to something.
I’ll be on a plane from San Fran tomorrow, but will do my best to check in Friday. In the mean time, start your own Life List. It does a soul good.

I’ve drafted this post (and deleted and drafted again) more times than I care to admit, because nothing sounds remotely adequate to describe such an empowering weekend. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Mighty Summit, it’s a retreat weekend for women in media, founded by three brainy (and FUN) girls. I highly encourage you to apply to attend next year, as it was just… wow.
This year, we were asked to prepare for the retreat by completing our Life List (you can read mine here!) so we can share, inspire and support each other as we cross off each of our lifelong goals. And share, inspire and support we did.

I’m still traveling non-stop (in SF at the moment! Yay!), so little work has been accomplished on the home front. BUT, I did happen to share my future bathroom inspirations on HGTV.com today, so I thought you might like a peek? Yes? Good.
Enjoy!
