luis dourado’s nature girl.

Oh, Luis. Your new work is so good.
Also, I totally want a nature-inspired dress. Life imitating [really cool!] art?

Terrariums are over-buzzed, yes, but the project ‘Continents‘ was too sweet not to post. Inside each jar is a scene from your favorite country, personalized with love!
(I’ve got a major thing for Capetown! So cute!)

Oh, man. This looks like Carly Waito-inspired artwork, but it’s a photo! This series is mesmerizing.
[thanks, erica!]

Story time! Designer Anders recently found a small piece of torn paper and loved it, although he could only make out a 9 and the term ‘pes duce.’
No idea what the piece of paper meant, but let’s fill in the blanks, shall we? I love.

The Amber Chair is a chair dipped in amber-like polymer and then called art.
Could you have guessed that on your own? Oh, I’m sorry. You smart, young things, you.

ps. Someday I’m going to dip myself im amber and call it art. Someday.

It’s divine, no? I’d totally break a birdcage for this beauty.

Pat, you are so right. Love really is a battlefield.

It’s high time for an update, yes? I’ve been jet-setting all over the country (I miss you already, NYC), so haven’t had much time to cross off some major items, but I have indeed made a bit of progress on a few.
One item that has been weighing heavily on my mind is #37. Finish my ‘Autohairography’ memoir. ‘Autohairography’ is a memoir I began in college when I was trying to “find myself.” It’s funny, and I like it rather a lot. But it’s unfinished. And it sort of has to be, because I realized that the goal of the entire book is to teach myself not to define… well, myself, by anything other than my soul. Be it hair, body or style, my quest in life is to enhance my soul and become a totally awesome person that I’m proud of.
And I’m getting there. But first? First I had to reflect on my life in hairstyles. Many memoirs are organized in chronological order and categorized by life-changing events. I’ve lived a relatively normal boring life, so my memoir is organized by hairstyles. Peacock bangs segued into my first kiss. Crimped hair introduced me to death. And seaweed-infused hair made me realize that I could be whatever I wanted.
So, in an effort to finish this book, it seemed only fitting that I experience every hairstyle imaginable, from super long to… pixie. I’m a firm believer that every girl should own a pixie cut at some point in my life, and that time for me is now:

I’m hoping I will see it as a catalyst to finish this memoir, because I am so proud of how this book has progressed. Published or not, it’s a work of art and it’s true to me. And I love that. It’s got the Erin stamp all over it, and I can’t wait to share it all with you someday. Until then, I’ll be channeling my inner Twiggy all across this town. And the first grocer to call me a boy in aisle nine? Beware.
