Red has always been my least favorite color, but Sergei’s making me change my tune. If you’re having a down day, take a few minutes to perus this photo collection. You’ll go up. I promise.

… in no particular order.
1. Moms are nice and not at all scary.
2. If you delete Ghost Radar app from your phone, it will manifest into someone else’s head and take over their mind for a 36 hour time period. (Thank you, Alice.)
3. You can put cotton candy on top of mousse and it makes something wonderful.
4. The Eiffel Society is my favorite place in the world. They should serve hot dogs, but they don’t.
5. Laura Mayes is a cute little buttercup. (I already knew this, but I forgot to write it down.)
6. This blogging thing we do? It has sort of changed the world.
7. It’s sort of going to change the world even more.
8. I want to be a part of that.

Wishing you a happy weekend here at Design for Mankind!

M. Fay killed it again this week. Man, I’ve got the best set of gals in town.

I’m in NOLA for a few days to speak at a conference (will I see you here?)* and am still nursing my flu. BUT, I couldn’t help but check in and thank you for your sweet wishes, cards and emails. You all are so nice, you know? To be honest, as sick as I feel, there’s something special about being sick in my own home. This renovation was tough on Ken and I both and we still have a bit to go, but overall? We’re in the home stretch and couldn’t be more thrilled.
Back to the grind — I’ll report back next week! Guest posts are sure to knock your socks off tomorrow… !
*No, I’m not a Mom. I don’t belong.

Amy is Lauren’s sister — what a talented duo they make!

Pardon the radio silence — I’m sick. I knew it was coming, because I’ve managed to cram 4,523 big life events into two weeks and any normal person would’ve crumbled under the pressure, too. (Except for my husband. Surprisingly, he’s whistling like the jolly man he is — untouched by germs. How is this fair?) Regardless, my body gave out Sunday and I’m doing my best to recuperate before I leave to speak at a conference in two days.
Send well wishes and get better soon ideas in the comment section?

Junktion makes old things new (and awesome). I’m falling hard for these shoe form lamps (probably because I have a thing for shoe forms, but nonetheless — awesome!!).

I always get dressed up when I have a hair appointment, because I go to the cheapest place in the world where my hair cut is $7 and they love to style it as if I’m a Brady relative. And as if Brady hair isn’t bad enough, sweat pants just add insult to injury.
Anyway, here’s what I wore!:

I picked out this dress on sale at Lulu’s* and although it requires a full-length slip (it’s VERY unlined), I felt instantly glamorous and insanely comfy (pockets! yes!). The headscarf is a vintage tie dye ikat design and I decorated myself with lots and lots of jewels + a camel clutch. Win!
