Design For Mankind

MYkind: office sneak peek.

As most of you know, Ive been in the midst of a serious renovation, and although the worst is over, I’ve been feeling less than motivated to share the ugliness with you. So how about some prettiness? This, friends, is where I work daily.

Source list after the jump!…

minimalist interiors.

As much as I so badly want to become a minimalist, I don’t have it in me. (I’m a total magpie.) Regardless, these images photographed by Ditte take me far away from the cluttered corners of my own home and have me dreaming for wide, empty spaces.

p.s. If you’re a lover of minimalism, you’ll love the aptly-named Tumblr, On Minimalism.

animal instincts: the spider.

Dudes. Spiders freak me out like none other. I mean, really… how can they possibly use all of those legs for good? (They can’t. They’re creepy, creepy little creatures.) Anyway, I’m seeing them in everything. Weird. But I like it.

super styling.

Loving this image from a Rorstrand campaign that Idha photographed. Filing under “inspiration” now!

mixed media art.

Wowza. Dawn’s mixed media work is some of the better I’ve seen this summer. Bonus? She’s a new grad available for hire. Go get ‘em, tiger!

floral photographs.

I’m not sure, but it looks like Bryan stuck a bouquet of flowers under a hairdryer. Clearly, the result is way more awesome than if he would’ve put ‘em in a vase.

There’s a lesson somewhere in there, I’m sure.

color of the week: watermelon.

Pink and I don’t really love each other, but these days, I’ve been gravitating toward spaces and outfits with watermelon and salmon together (or red, for a bright and bold look!). Oh, color blocking!

Here are a few faves:

1. Pink pleat dress (£26) at Dorothy Perkins
2. Pink soap dispenser (£2.10) at Habitat
3. Penguin bookends (£7) at Habitat
4. Urbanears headphones in Cerise ($60) at Urbanears

black and white things.

Black and white is my first love, always. You’ll see what I mean Wednesday when I share my guest bedroom on HGTV. For now, enjoy a snippet of monochromatic mighties.
