• the ultimate baby registry: bath & potty.

    05.29.2012 / baby gear

Happy Tuesday, friends! I’m back with yet another installment of The Ultimate Registry – this time for bath and potty time! Here’s a handy list of the must-have products my mom friends and experts are recommending for your sweet little babe to come:

bath and potty registry essentials for baby

    1. DIAPERS + WIPES
Because I’m trying to keep the newborn phase as easy as humanly possible, I’m intimidated to mess with cloth diapers. Instead, we’re opting for diapers and wipes from The Honest Co. – plant-based, ultra-absorbent alternatives to disposables. Here’s hoping for minimal leakage!

    2. BABY TUB
I’m head over heels for the Puj Tub – a foldable, soft solution that’s as well-designed as it is comfy for baby.

    3. BABY LOTION
If it’s good enough for mom, it’s good enough for baby! I use Yes to Carrots lotion daily, so I’m thrilled with Yes To Baby Carrots Lotion for the wee ones.

    4. BABY SHAMPOO + BODYWASH
Packed with soothing aromatherapy, California Baby calming shampoo and bodywash is a fan favorite for its safe and gentle organic blend of sustainable ingredients.

    5. TRAVEL DIAPER CHANGING KIT
If you’re a mom on the go, a travel solution for changing diapers is a good idea. I love Munchkin’s Travel Diaper Changing Kit for its simplicity and no-fuss design. Plus, a hidden zipper allows for creams, ointments and lotions.

    6. DIAPER OINTMENT
To keep that sweet little bum clean and rash-free, diaper ointment is a must. I’m a fan of Burt’s Bees entire line, so I’m anxious to see how the Burt’s Bees diaper ointment compares to its counterparts!

    7. BABY WASH CLOTHS // QTY: 8+
It never occurred to me to register for baby-friendly wash cloths until my girlfriend reminded me that baby skin is so very sensitive. These cotton terry wash cloths are perfect for a soft and soothing bathtime experience!

    8. HOODED BATH TOWEL // QTY: 2
Hooded bath towels are functional and oh-so-cute – the perfect blend!

As always, share what we’ve missed in the comments below – I love to hear your smart recommendations!

    • I’m so jealous of that tub! All the cute stuff comes out after I have a baby! ;-)

    • i wanted to use honest so bad! i ordered the trial kit but the diapers did not work well for my daughter. they are not as soft as pampers, nor do they keep the wetness away from her skin as well. she can pee something like nine times in the pampers before needing changed, but she cried after peeing once in the honest ones. here’s to hoping they work for you — because they are so cute!

How are you liking the Honest Co diapers? Did you look at gdiapers?

      • I did look at gDiapers, yes! But I LOVE The Honest Co. GDiapers were too intimidating for me right out of the gate, so it was great to find a company that still believed in safe, nontoxic ingredients but with the easy disposable factor. We’re sold for life!

    • Jennie

Hi Erin! Just wondering if three months later you are still liking honest diapers. Loving the lists! Thank you!

      • Hi Jennie:

I am, yes! I LOOOOVE Honest diapers. And they’re the only wipes that haven’t given little Bee’s buns a rash, so thumbs up all around. Highly recommend! :)

i love how you have updated some of the categories for your registry guide! It has been so helpful as we are registering for our little one due in june! I was wondering if you have any reviews on the products from this category… I mostly am wondering about the diaper ointment! how has it worked out? have you even needed it with using the Honest diapers? We are cloth diapering and hopefully wont have a huge need for the ointment, but it will always be good to have on hand!

      • Hi Jessica!

Thanks for your kind words! I’ll be updating this one soon, but here’s the short of it: we use extra light olive oil in lieu of diaper ointment! It works AMAZINGLY well and she’s only had one diaper rash (when we ran out of Honest wipes and used a popular “natural” version until more arrived). When she’s had a lot of messy diapers (I don’t know how to explain that in a non-gross fashion, ha!), we layer a tiny bit of the Burt’s Bees over the olive oil so it’s thinner and less concentrated. Works like a charm!

        Congrats to you! :)

        • Jane

I had the same question about the diaper ointment, since I’m weeks away from my due date and anxious to place an order on amazon. I was trying to be patient and wait for the updates for this category, but thanks for answering the ointment question!

First time commenter, but I’ve been devouring the new mom advice and experiences you’ve shared.

        • You’re welcome, Jane – and thank you so much!
