dear bee // 2.

Dear Bee,

You’re here! You’re here! Your dad and I are crazy in love with you, and even though this letter is meant to be about you every week, I wanted to tell you what an amazing job your father has been doing these first few days. (We’ll get back to you later – I promise!)

You took your time coming into this world (over 36 hours of strong contractions!), and your dad was right by our side with rice socks, words of encouragement and supportive hand-holds the entire time. He was a champion during the hardest parts of labor, and now that you’ve arrived, his love for you and me both is just so very evident.

Nursing has been trying, so your dad has been helping us research new techniques, making midnight runs to the store for more creams and keeping us well hydrated. He’s been running herbal baths daily to relax us both, and my goodness is he good at changing, soothing and loving you. I’m still fairly sore, so he’s been up every night with you, rocking and pacing, while you settle into a new routine – all while I stay in bed and rest. You’re the luckiest girl in the world to have him as a dad, my dear. You’ll see some day.

XO,
Mama

p.s. Your Auntie Betsy took the photo above; I can’t wait for you to see the rest of your birthday photos someday!
