Jeaneen Carlino illustrates super-heroic ladies that could totally kick She-Ra’s butt.
This one’s my favorite, and I’d call her Rhino-Plasty. Ha. Get it? Man, I’m funny on Tuesdays.

My next favorite from my VIP picks? “Stacked Upon” from Jaclyn Mednicov, which explores how nature responds to man-made structures in our urban surroundings.
I’ll tell you how it responds: “Make like a tree and leave.”
My nephew taught me that one.
“Radar” from Aili Schmeltz is another fave of mine, as it examines the artist’s love/hate relationship for living in Los Angeles. Boy, can I relate!
20×200 is one of my favorite go-to sites for affordable art (isn’t it everyone’s?!), so I was thrilled to be asked to create a curation of VIP picks for the site. Joining the ranks of a few of my creative idols (i.e. Flickr founder Caterina Fake and Kottke.org brain Jason Kottke), I’m so excited to show you all my finds!
Check out my picks on 20×200, or stay tuned for a round-up of my fave 20×200 artwork right here over the next few hours!
p.s . The above piece is from Sarah Spitler — fabulous, right?

This is a bat drawn by Masha Krasnova-Shabaeva, and I can’t tell if I think it’s more creepy than a real-life one, or less. Either way, I LOVE it.
Caroline Gaedechens‘ drawings are like charcoal-covered pretzels. (Which I mean as a major compliment).
Also, how beautiful are her color schemes? Like a rainy day on the coral reef or something.
Also again, bears are the new owls. Quote me on that. Wings are so overrated.

I’ve always been a massive fan of Aidan Koch’s work, and recently fell head over heels for her Tumblr.
This gal has style (and an etsy shop, if you’re up for it).
Happy weekend!

We really should talk about how awesome these prints from Doris Freigofas are. It’s like an Aztec area rug grabbed hold of a few helium balloons and floated up into it’s own space on the wall.
Or something.
And then, we should talk about her Flickrstream. Because there are some goodies hiding in there, indeed.

Shoot, Anna. This work just keeps getting better and better. Also? Anything with graph paper is a YES.
