You missed yesterday’s weekend mash-up, didn’t you? That’s because I’m rounding up the week over at ReadyMade Mag from now on. I know, I know. You’ll miss me. But you’ll get me every Friday still, just in a different spot.
You lucky things.

Happy Friday, friends! It’s been another whirlwind week settling in from my travels to San Fran, but I couldn’t sign off without saying goodbye to you for the weekend!
I’ll be heading to my hometown in southern Indiana to shoot a much-delayed family portrait with my immediate family (so excited!) tomorrow and will be fitting in a few kid’s birthdays in the mix. A very busy few days, so perhaps I’ll have a soak in this fun bathtub chair at some point. (In my dreams, yes.) I also plan to peruse Will’s new site and Six Items or Less while pondering one of my biggest decor struggles: Does Minimalism Matter?
Speaking of decor struggles, this problem solving (admittedly girly!) garage has me reeling. The organization alone is so crave-able (not a word.). And now that we’re talking cravings, Jasper Garvida, Federal, Diana Platais and this sweater. Yes to each.
p.s. Wishing it would rain tonight! It’s my wedding anniversary (Happy 5th, Ken)! And whoa. Boldness.

[A $20 perpetual necklace from Beth is a perpetually sweet gift.]
Hi folks! It’s Friday, and I’ve been on a mad high since returning home from Mighty Summit earlier this week. Which means my head almost fell off a few times. It spins, you see, and then I have to adjust it so that it doesn’t fly off.
Anyway, I plan to spend a quiet weekend in (doing plenty of laundry, I might add) to combat the crazy in my head. It’s the good kind of crazy, but it’s still crazy. On my to do list? Reading Paper cover to cover, as well as Maira Kalman’s new read from Penguin. And then, while I’m on a paper roll, why not write send postcards to my parents on Ashkahn’s new cards and then update my Frankie diary? While coloring on downloadable coloring sheets, perhaps? Oh, the fun!
Of course, when I’m finished playing with paper I could play dress up with Kirsty’s new [awesome] crochet cuff and Beth’s perpetual necklace (thanks for the sweet presents, girls!). Or maybe I’ll learn to sew and enter Burda/Project Runway’s remake challenge? OK, let’s not get carried away. But if I did know how to sew, I’d re-create this INCREDIBLE wrap sweater from Civilized Wildlife. Eek!
Happy weekend, all!
p.s. Clowns are creepy, MODify/d is adorable, blowdryers are cool and bike prints are cute.
p.p.s. I love you.

Happy Friday, sweet readers! If you’re new to this sort of thing, my weekend mash-up is where I take all of the week’s awesomeness and mash it up into one post. Which is why I’ve titled it “weekend mash-up.” Clever, yes? I went to college for that.
Anyway, I’ve got a super fun weekend planned, starting with a lovely wedding craft project with my good friend (and bride-to-be!) Jess. Next, I think I’ll retreat home and hop online to enter Maria’s hair portrait giveaway, browse East/West (pictured above!), listen to my idol Stefan Sagmeister and check out cute underwear.
I’ll have to save some time somewhere in there to dog-ear the pages of P.S. I Made This (would you look at her lovely home?) and Design Your Own Tees, where fashion and craft mingle and smooch. I’m sure to glean inspiration from both reads (and I’ll jot them away in my Idea notebooks!). Who knows? Maybe I’ll learn to craft more than an oversized sock monkey.
Happy weekend to you! See you Monday.

Yes, I celebrated a birthday yesterday, and yes, I’m continuing to celebrate today (and more than likely through the weekend). Because I love birthdays, and once I have a taste of joy, I don’t give it up easily.
Speaking of joy, so proud of my dear e-friends Joy and Meg for their Creative, Inc. book release. It’s great. Go get it. And while you’ve got the credit card out, SimpleSong spotted the most adorable (and well-designed!) Etsy shop around. Get something there, too. Or buy art and save the sea turtles. Whew! I’m bossy on my birthday!
Other things on my wish list? Sean Woolsey’s industrial lamps, this Medal of Honor brooch, Karolina’s studio, anything from CHANCE, Hannah’s hair, a Neopolotian bookcover and some vintage playing cards.
Yep, I’m also very want-y on my birthday. Or, you know, the day after. Happy weekend, friends!

I’m writing this from my laptop, sick in bed with the flu, but nonetheless inspired by the latest happenings of this crazy thing we call The Internet. For starters, I’ve been watching this artsy video over and over again (and it keeps getting better!), perusing Johanna’s photos, and dreaming of filling up a Wren Salvador with shadow clouds and back issues of UYW.
Instead, I’m eating Saltine crackers, drinking 7UP (wishing it was au lait!) and drifting in and out of consciousness. Happy weekend to you; I’ll e-see you next week!

Happy Friday, friends! I’m headed down south for some family time tomorrow and am soooo excited to crash the county fair for a lemon shake-up and a pulled pork sandwich. Of course, I’d have way more fun if I was sporting an awesome Foreshore Dynamic tee (or a KrochetKids ‘Love’ tee for charity!) and one of Alessandra Olanow’s totes. I’m kidding, I suppose. Doesn’t matter what you wear as long as there’s a fair (whee! I can rhyme!).
The truth is, I’m slowly learning to fall back in love with my Midwestern roots. Sure, there are no mountains (or embroidered mountains at that!), but it’s all in your perspective. Wherever you live, you’ve gotta make it yours (like Ana’s Panama zines!) and press onward. Besides, home is where you keep your vintage Nintendo console collection, yes?
I’ll sign off for now, but before I go, remember Claire Ashley’s awesome trash bag work? Yesterday, she sent over a sneak peek image of her trash bag pillows (not yet on her site) that she just finished working on, which I posted above. Amazing, right?
Happy weekend, guys!
p.s. Plover Organic is having a 50% off sample sale next week (Aug 4-6th). I’ll be there virtually, of course!

Whew! Another week flew by here at Design for Mankind! We’ve been marveling altitude-measuring leggings and pining over lacy trees this week, and I’m hoping the inspiration will overflow into this hot, summery weekend!
You know what would make my weekend a whole lot cooler? If I was sporting a sweet FISH clutch and showing off a creepy-cool Violet Darking ring. I’d then travel to see Luke Elliott’s woodblock poster in person, maybe stopping at a wifi cafe to score a Nathan Turner Elite Leather Barkham Chair on One King’s Lane. I’d stick around to enter Amalia’s giveaway and then take a nature walk in hopes I could collect enough inspiration to materialize a Little Drifter for Booooooom. After an immediate trip to the dollar store, I’d call my husband to thank him for loving me and pick up a souvenir ship for the road.
Of course, by that time I’d be exhausted and wishing I knew how to quilt so I could retire to my home and create something beautiful. (Speaking of quilting, have you seen The Quilt Project?)
What will you do this weekend, friends?

7/16/2010

It’s another hot summer Friday and I’ve got big plans to do nothing at all! Perhaps I’ll hole up inside and figure out just how Libraryman manages to be so awesome. Or read more about the brilliant Kubideh Kitchen while craving a wooden geode to don during my hypothetical visit to the Mixed Greens exhibit in NYC.
Or perhaps I’ll craft some funky glasses, all the better of which to see these dreamy international boat code flags with. And then? Then, I’ll shop the Oil Spill Response market at Poppytalk (I’ve got my eye on this June Craft piece!). While I’ve got my credit card out, maybe I’ll talk myself into that Collection magazine I’ve been craving.
Lastly? I’d love to teach myself to paint like Dane Lovett while sitting in front of a glamorous little OTTO fan and an open window. Blissful, yes?
What will you do this weekend?

I’m still technically taking a break from the Internet, but I wanted to schedule you a bit of weekend inspiration! Like this painted photo DIY idea (which I love), a sweet summery pinboard, striped candles, hanging flowers, a llama-rific tea towel and some totally rad leggings.
Happy Friday — I’ll be back Monday (in person! Yay!).
